Michael and Liana Plan to Wed at the Woodmark Hotel

Michael and Liana to wed at the Woodmark this summer - Kent Buttars, Seattle Wedding Officiant
Engagement photo by Arlene Chambers

This couple - Liana and Michael -- are Northwest natives.  They both grew up in the area and both attended Western Washington University.  It wasn't until after college that they met, when the time was right for them.

Liana and Michael have been together since 2011 and became engaged in February 2013 while on vacation in Hawaii.  The two recently bought their first house and are excited to start their lives there.

Kent and I are very much looking forward to co-creating an amazing wedding ceremony with Liana and Michael.

What Do Officiants Wear to a Wedding? It's Your Choice!

Kent and Pat's Regency Look - Photo by Studio-on-the-Go
This is Kent and I in our "Regency look."  We wanted to be very much a part of the Jane Austen era.  (Kent's top hat is actually from the 1800's -- there is quite a story attached to it.  Ask him about it the next time you see him.)  Oh, and you can't see his short pants with the ruffles on the hem and his long white stockings.  Not too many guys feel comfortable with the look but he handled it with aplomb.

You probably will remember that I was working on our outfits early last week in preparation for the open house at the Sanctuary on Admiral.  We were quite pleased with the results.

Many thanks to Red Fish Blue Fish and Studio-on-the-Go for the photo.  I know we'll hold on to this one for quite some time.

And, of course, we had a fabulous time at the open house.

When we dress for a wedding that we're officiating, we like be in style with the bride and groom and the rest of the bridal party.  Kent has a wide selection of suits, a tuxedo, his kilts and his barong; I have a variety of dresses.

If you looking for some nattily dressed officiants, give us a call at 206-789-9788 or through our website.

Personal Vows Make A Wedding Ceremony One to Remember!

Corey and Amanda wed at The Ruins - Kent Buttars, Seattle Wedding Officiant
What do family and friends listen to the most at a wedding ceremony?  The vows, of course!

Publicly expressing how you feel about your fiance(e) and making personal promises may not be right for every bride and groom ... but it was for Corey and Amanda.

Here's some of what Corey had to say to his wife-to-be:
I never thought
that I could meet someone like you.
You are my friend,
  you are my smile,
  you are my everything.
You are a breathtaking creation
  of God’s heart for me.
You are my Light
and it doesn’t matter what happens in this life
as long as you are with me.

Amanda responded:
I never thought
that I could meet someone like you
You are my friend
  you are my smile
  you are my everything
I promise to always love you,
as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow.
I will always love you.
Your love is inspiring to me every day.
You are the kindest, most sincere person I know.
I promise to never take your love for granted.
I take you to be my best friend, my companion and my one true love.
You are my Castile to my Dean, and my Mary Jane to Peter Parker.

Corey and Amanda are wed! Wedding ceremony performed by Kent Buttars, Seattle Wedding Officiant

Lisa and Jeff to Exchange Their Wedding Vows at the Chapel on Swan's Trail

Winter photo of Lisa and Jeff - Posted by Patricia Stimac, A Heavenly CeremonyJeff and Lisa have been together three wonderful years and the idea of marriage seemed in their future.  They decided to spend the Fourth of July weekend in Long Beach, Washington, with family.

On the ride there, Lisa found an appetizer on the Internet -- a fruit kabob of strawberry, pineapple and banana chunks, half of which was dipped in chocolate.   She shared the photo with Jeff because she knew he would like it too.

The next morning, Jeff woke up at the crack of dawn and said he was going to get some breakfast treats.  While Lisa slept, he went to the store and picked up chocolate, strawberries, pineapple, bananas along with little skewers.  Guess what he wanted to make?

Once everything was assembled, Jeff woke up Lisa, explaining he wanted to serve her breakfast in bed.  Lisa was instantly awake. Jeff presented the yummy fruit kabobs.

Next came chocolate-covered strawberries.  And the pan they were served on had this written in chocolate:  "Will U Marry Me?"

Of course, Lisa said YES!!!

The two will wed at the Chapel on Swan's Trail in Snohomish.

Wishing Lisa and Jeff even more wonderful years -- make that decades -- together!

Wine Blending Ceremony Using a Wine Aerator!

Wine blending ceremony with a wine aerator - Photo by Marybeth Coghill

Kent and I had the pleasure and honor of officiating for our niece, Molly, and her husband, Greg, last July at Pickering Barn.

The two enjoy wine and decided to celebrate their union with a wine blending ritual.  Now, we've officiated a number of such ceremonies but this was the first using an wine aerator.  Visually, it was wonderful.

Molly selected a cabernet, which was crafted by a long-time family friend, Tom Wiitala.  Greg chose a merlot from Abacela, an award-winning Oregon winery near his parent's hometown, Roseburg.

The two grapes are a very good match and are often used in a blending of wine ceremony.  Each poured their wine into the aerator and then toasted one another with the cabernet/merlot blend.

Salute to the bride and groom!

(If you are doing a wine blending at your wedding ceremony, remember to test the combination before your big day to make sure you love the taste!)

The aerator was a present from Greg's parents so it was used during the ceremony and will be a part of their life as a married couple.  What a good reminder of a great day!
