Seattle is a GREAT City to Elope to!

Barry and Robert elope to Seattle - Patricia Stimac, Seattle Wedding Officiant
What a wonderful experience!  Barry and Robert are a truly gracious couple from Florida.  They had heard so many good things about our fair Emerald City that they decided to wed here.

The two wanted a simple yet elegant ceremony and celebration.  We had communicated before they arrived and had prepared their ceremony via email and phone.

Once in town (they stayed downtown), Robert and Barry became tourists with a purpose.  They began exploring where they wanted to wed.  The Olympic Sculpture Park had just the elan they were looking for.

The two decided on a common color scheme and ordered matching boutonnières.  Barry went with a long tie and Robert with a bow tie.  They looked quite dapper, don't you think!

We found a quiet, private place for the ceremony.

Vows were made and rings exchanged.

Afterwards, photos.

The Sculpture Park offers so many options.   Here's one at The Cloud Cover wall.

A stop at the Wave Sculpture is a must!

B
arry and Robert also shared some kind words about their ceremony experience.

"Pat was AMAZING! We had to plan everything from Florida via phone but she made it so easy. And the ceremony....could not have asked for anything better. She is professional, genuine, and I would highly recommend her services to anyone!"

Recently Engaged? How to Find an Officiant!

Patricia Stimac and Kent Buttars, A Heavenly Ceremony - Mike Veitenhans Photography
Mike Veitenhans
OK!  Kent and I aren't newly engaged.  (You know that we've been married for 35 years.)  But we do remember that very special moment - the proposal.

The excitement of planning your wedding day is tangible.  And the task of planning now begins.

So how do you find the right officiant for the two of you?

There are a number of considerations to explore with possible officiants:

First, of course, is the person available?

Is the person experienced in officiating, in writing, in providing overall guidance while encouraging your personalities to shine through?

Is he or she someone you feel comfortable with?

Is there a mutual understanding and willingness on what type of ceremony (religious, spiritual, humanist, cultural, interfaith, intercultural and more) you would like?

Is there a openness to work with you to co-create wording you will love to hear on your wedding day?

Is there help available in writing your own vows?

Is premarital preparation available?

Is it possible to see a video of the officiant performing a ceremony?

And, if friends have recently wed and they have recommendations, this would be a good place to begin!

Kent and I offer free consultations and welcome meeting with you.  Give us a call at 206.789.9788 or contact us through our website.

Ahoy mateys! Nuptials in the offing at the Center for Wooden Boats!!

The Center for Wooden Boats will host Ed and Shannons wedding - Patricia Stimac, Seattle Wedding Officiant
Being people who favor the water ourselves (Kent an Aquarius, me a Cancer), we can't abide to live far from the sea ... well, at least that watery pond called Green Lake.

Shannon and Ed have set down anchor at the south end of Lake Union, a stone's throw from The Center for Wooden Boats.

So when that sea dog Ed reckoned it was time to get hitched and proposed to his buxom beauty, Shannon, they smartly decided to tie the knot at the Center.

Who knows what lies in store for all those landlubbers attending their wedding shindig?  Aye, it is sure to please, of that I'm certain.  And, I'm dee-lighted to be presiding as cap'tain of the official ceremony in August, the most fair of months in Seattle.

Three cheers for the couple and a long, lively sail through life with fair winds always at their stern.

Calculating it's about time to take the plunge yourselves, well me hearties, belay the chatter and handsomely call us at 206.789.9788 or if you rather, through our website.  Yo ho ho!

Fun Wedding Photo - Seattle Sunset, Striking Bride and Groom & Interesting Cyclist!

In November I had the pleasure of officiating for Stephanie and Patrick at the Lake Union Cafe.  Since their wedding took place at 7:00pm, there was time before the ceremony for a number of sunset photographs.

When I saw this one, I had to blog about it.  What is the chance of all these components coming together? Beautiful bride, striking groom, lovely sunset and eccentric bicycle rider (or perhaps just the bicycle).

More posts to come on Patrick and Stephanie's wedding day.

Kudos to Cory Parris for the wonderful photo!

To say that Renee and CJ are happy to be engaged and looking forward to their June wedding is an understatement.

It was a delight to meet with the two and share in their excitement.  Very much looking forward to co-creating a ceremony with them that is totally perfect for them.

Surprise! We're getting married at the Woodmark Hotel - Kent Buttars and Patricia Stimac Seattle Wedding Officiants

    What a fun wedding celebration!

Elliott and Barb wanted to surprise everyone ... well, almost everyone  (their wedding party and parents were in the know) ... that they were getting married at the Woodmark Hotel.

As guests arrived for the "party," they received a pretty blue envelope with a silver seal.  Inside was this card.

New Year's Eve, Space Needle Fireworks, Wedding!

Seattle Space Needle fireworks light up Jen and Brandon's wedding - Patricia Stimac, Seattle Wedding Officiant

As you may know, I love fireworks. On New Year's, though, it takes a bit to get me (and Kent) out of a comfy home and to the Seattle Space Needle.

This year, Brandon and Jen contacted us about officiating for them ... and pronouncing them husband and wife at as close to 12:01am in the new year as possible.

Jen and Brandon in Parsons Garden on New Year's Even - Patricia Stimac, Seattle Wedding Officiant

First, the five of us met at Parsons Garden.  Ben Lucas of NOMcreative had set up some lights and some photos were taken there.  Isn't this romantic?

I filled out the marriage documents by the light of my cell phone.  It was really dark!

New Year's Eve wedding at the Space Needle - Patricia Stimac, A Heavenly Ceremony

Jen and Brandon had scouted the Queen Anne hill around the Space Needle, looking for a place where the fireworks would be visible yet it would be quite private.

    They found the perfect place.

Vows were read and heard.  It was truly a sweet moment.

What a magnificent beginning to the new year.

Wishing Jen and Brandon a life together enough more awesome than the fireworks!

Nile Country Club Wedding For Nate and Molly

Fun wedding party photo - Patricia Stimac, Seattle Wedding OfficiantWhoa!  Don't pull them apart.

Molly and Nate really do want to be together!!

The two decided to wed in August in an outdoor ceremony.  It was bright and sunny and just the perfect temperature.
Mixed wedding party - groom's people - Patricia Stimac, Seattle Wedding Officiant
I really like the trend of people in the wedding party standing up with the one who is closest to them.  Sometimes there are women on the groom's side and men on the bride's side.
Here is Molly with her attendants and the flower girl.

Molly's personal vows are wonderful - Patricia Stimac, Seattle Wedding OfficiantMolly and Nate wrote their own vows.  Molly used a sports theme:

Teams don't always win every game, and that is certainly the case for us.  We have had many ups and downs in life during our relationship, but no matter what the score is, we learn from the plays we make and come out stronger in the end.

I never thought in a million years that I would find a teammate that would love and care me as much as you.  And I didn't know that I could love someone as deeply as I love.
