Kenny and Kristin are Blessed with Seattle Rain on Their Wedding Day

Ah, autumn on the UW campus is absolutley spectacular. Kristin and Kenny began their wedding day with photos at the hotel (The Hotel Deca), then went on to the UW before making their way to the wedding and reception site (The Canal).

It was a day worth dancing about!  Kristin was a gorgeous bride.

The wedding party was quite the picture.  And, ok, aren't the umbrellas wonderful!  They do add a certain elan.

And "brellas" are just plain fun, too! 



Then, on to The Canal for the wedding ceremony and the reception.

Kristin and Kenny are obviously happy!!!

And the ceremony well ... very well!

Brent and Erin Wed at Roche Harbor

Mr. & Mrs. are just plain happy.

The bride and groom really wanted their wedding ceremony to take place outdoors.  There was rain in the morning, tapering off in the afternoon ... and by the time the guests arrived for the ceremony, the sun was actually peeking out from the clouds!  How great is that!!!

Eight of us flew to San Juan Island.

I felt so fortunate to be the officiant.  The bride and groom are the best!  It was a joy to get to know them through premarital and planning sessions.  As a bonus, I also got to take my first seaplane ride.

Loved how people traveled from all over to witness Erin and Brent exchange their wedding vows and celebrate with them.  And how there were so many personal touches both in the ceremony (the mothers and grandmother received leis) and at the celebration.

No need to have rain to find a use for these bumbershoots.

And how the entire weekend was child friendly.  Who knew umbrellas could be so much fun!

Sometimes, I end up with photos I didn't really intend to take ... and sometimes they are kinda interesting.  I liked this one of the woman's shoes.

The wedding cake was delish!  Erin's sister, Amy, made it at Roche Harbor.  She experimented forever to get just the right combination of ingredients.  It was worth the effort.  And friends brought a huge tub of the bride's favorite ice cream from Mallard Ice Cream in Bellingham.  Yum!

The toasts were one of the highlights of the evenings.  Tracy 's words had both humor and heartfelt sentiment.  And then, the dancing and festivities began!!!  It was a night to remember.

Jeff & Diana's "Love in the Rain" Wedding Ceremony

 "Thank you, Kent! It was really a pleasure working with you and Pat. The wedding was an unbelievable experience, on many levels, and including for one reason you called out - it was amazing to have so many people there who love us, and to feel that joy and delight you mention. I was so glad that we wrote our own vows, personalized the ceremony with your and Pat's guidance, involved many friends to sing, speak, play (and even chauffeur!), and that we included the community affirmation language. "

The bride and groom glowed ... and their day was blessed by the rain (very auspicious).   Thankfully, the tent kept the guests dry and comfortable and the best man shielded the bride from any stray droplets. (Yes, Kent brought a white umbrella to the wedding and it really came in handy. And I love the look of the clear tent.)

As you can see in the photo above, the wedding party was quite cozy under the focal point tree in the garden.  It created a sense of intimacy and connection, reflecting key values of the couple. What impressed my husband the most was the joy of the experience.  This unique couple enjoyed their moment, rain or shine.

Words from the heart are the best words!

Diana and Jeff exchanged their personal vows in Parsons Garden (Queen Anne area of Seattle).  It was in this very park the two shared their first date.  

During their courtship, "they climbed mountain peaks, walked deserted beaches, got lost together, sat quietly side by side together," in Jeff's words.  What made each moment better was that they experienced it all together.

The two designed their wedding rings. They wanted them to reflect a sense of movement and to signify the flow of life.  And they were beautiful.

Off they go, happy and in love.

Their wedding day was as memorable as any could be.  Spirits were high and I'm sure will remain so.  Wishing the two a happy, healthy and long-lived journey through life together.

Aaron & Kristin Wed on Mt. Rainier

This very amazing couple decided to exchange their marriage vows at Ricksecker Point.  It was a holiday weekend.  Family and friends flew in from all over the country to converge in Ashford, then ventured forth in the rain into Mt. Rainier National Park.

Although we only caught glimpses of the mountain, Kristin and Aaron's love warmed everyone's heart.  The umbrellas lent a festival touch to the celebration and there was a sense of connection created by the mist.

Oh, and the air was absolutely delicious!!!  So cool and clean.  I couldn't breathe in enough of it.

After the nuptials, the bride and groom headed off for a short hike.  We hope they enjoy endless trails together!!  So fun.  Meanwhile we indulged in wonderful marionberry pie from Copper Creek Inn.

Bill & Martha Wed on St. Patrick's Day in Downtown Seattle!

What a fun, engaging,thoughtful, playful, imaginative wedding! Kent and I felt so tickled to be included. (OK, St. Pat's is a special day for me too ... even if I'm not Irish born.)

Martha wanted an outdoor wedding. Waking up to raindrops, my heart was sad. But, having the perspective that rain or shine the wedding would outside, we set up on the rooftop and hoped for the best. By 3:17pm, it was dazzling!

So many people contributed to the celebration. Martha's father, Bob, cooked a pre-ceremony lunch of corned beef and cabbage. Yummy!



Martha wore a vintage Kelly-green jacket, over a white dress that Bill had bought for her during their courtship, topped by a fur family members in Florida sent her. Everyone in the family pitched in to make it a very special day.

A ceremony tailored specifically for this holiday was crafted. Heartfelt vows were exchanged. Joy filled everyone's hearts.

What is more fitting for a unity celebration than creating a "Black Velvet," Guinness and champagne. (I was a bit skeptical about the taste, never having tasted one ... one taste and I was sold!)

It was the people who made the wedding special. So many relatives and friends traveled to witness and celebrate the day. Jeremy and Marie, the witnesses, came from California to toast the couple. Others from Massachusetts and just about every where. Friendships developed quickly and all had a great time!!



Tulips and kisses under an umbrella (yes, they were prepared just in case of rain) brought the ceremony part of the afternoon to a close.

A very good day, a very good wedding, a very wonderful couple! Our best to you!!!
