Washington Park Arboretum - A Beautiful Wedding in a Beautiful Park

Simple, elegant, natural -- a truly lovely wedding!  Lindsay and Peter wanted an intimate ceremony that included their family and closest friends.  They selected the Woodland Pond area of the Washington Park Arboretum.

I loved how the bridesmaid dresses mirrored that of the bride ...
and how the colors were from a muted palette.

The groomsmen wore suits that complemented the bridesmaid's dresses.

and

The ceremony took place within the park, where there are no cars (although a shuttle service was provided for the grandparents).

The limosine waited at the Visitor's Center, where most people parked.



 

Peter and Lindsay looked so very happy ...
  and so very in love!

And although the day began a bit overcast, the sun came out in the afternoon.
It was a perfect day for a wedding!

I love the Arboretum and always check out the plants for sale at the Visitor's Center.  This time I purchased a climbing hydrangea (plan to use it on a fence).  As I followed the trail to the wedding ceremony area, I saw the plant I had just bought!!  It will be perfect.

Best Garden for a Wedding -- Washington Park Arboretum

A garden is a special place, a place where people have brought beautiful living plants, here to establish them, to nurture and care for them, that they may forever surround us with beauty and into this place where we stand, you have brought something beautiful -- the relationship that is becoming your marriage.

 

 

These words perfectly describe Matt and Gaia. It was obvious they love each other.  Their love radiates from them.

 





From the first look throughout the evening, it was a joy to just gaze their way and to smile.

And everyone was so excited to be a part of the couple's wedding day, especially the flowergirls (Gaia's nieces)!

The wedding party gathered and were ready for the ceremony.  (Gaia and Matt made it easy for their attendants and encouraged them to wear something each would like.) 










Then, it was time for the ceremony! 










It was the first time I've officiated at the Arborteum when a tent was set up on the patio.  It was truly elegant.

  
Emily presented the first reading:  The Key to Love.






 













And Adrian, Gaia's brother, presented the second.  Both did a wonderful job!

The happy couple is now married!!

 

 

 
The hall was beautifully set with long tables end to end.  The arrangement made good use of the space and created that "family style" feeling people enjoy.














It also made it very convenient to "clink" glasses after the toasts.

I love cake ... and this was a beauty.


Then to the first dance.  It was a warm summer night and truly one of the most romantic evenings.

 

Soon everyone was joining in the fun!!!

What I loved most about the evening was that I felt like family.  Everyone was so friendly and gracious. This is a quality of the couple and of their families and friends.

And I was delighted they were happy with their ceremony.  They sent me a thank you along with these photos.

We are so grateful to you for officiating our wedding.  

We knew from our first meeting that we were in good hands.  You did such an excellent job organizing everyone during both the rehearsal and before the ceremony.  Thank you for making our wedding extra special.
