Darcie and Neal Wed in Style in at Seattle's Sunset Club

This was a FUN wedding ... and a wedding to remember!  Darcie and Neal married at the Sunset Club.  Talk about having a unique celebration that reflects your personality.  This is a shining example of that.





 
Darcie was inspired and designed a collection of balloons with streamers made from various types of ribbons, lace and material.  So playful.

They were used to decorate the reception hall.

Neal is a professional actor, which is evident in this preceremony pose.

Darcie is studying premed and is also an artist.  She also has a streak of originality to her.  Check out her website.

Darcie's gown is an Elizabeth Dye creation.  It suited her perfectly!


An heirloom locket from Darcie's grandmother was attached to the waist of her dress, a very special "something old."









The dress was matched with these very comfortable yet highly stylish shoes.

The wedding party assembled before the ceremony to complete the formal photos.

 

 

 

 

Lenora is holding B-Bear, Darcie's stuffed bear from childhood and the bearer of the rings.

There were a few moments for Neal and Darcie to enjoy some time together.

 

Then it was time for the ceremony to begin. The grandparents, parents and wedding party gathered in the upper foyer.  We made our entrance down the stairs to the ceremony hall.












After the welcome, words of appreciation were expressed to Neal and Darcie's parents.

The bride and groom invited two of their best friends to offer perspective and words of wisdom during their ceremony.  The first was Patrina, who selected a reading by Thomas Kempis entitled "On Love," followed by more personal words.

A bit later, Thom, presented passages from Sandol Stoddard Warburg's very humorous "I Like You."  He too is an actor -- he did a great job.

Personal vows were then changed.

Darcie expressed she would always be on Neal's team and how through finding common ground regarding their differences they have strengthened their love.






Neal's words ending with "Todo para ti, Amore!" brought a tear to Darcie's eyes.

When it was time to exchange the rings,  Lenora did a great job of bringing B-Bear forward.  I loved how the rings were attached with velcro  -- so easy to remove.

With this ring, I join my life to yours.

And so, the marriage was made and the vows were sealed with a kiss.

It was an evening of joy and an evening of emotion.  A time to remember the past and rejoice in the future.

And, it was a time to dance!

Traditional Wedding Elements Happily Marry DIY Creativity

What a spectacular way to begin the New Year!  This was a wedding with personality!!

Darcie and Neal wed at the Sunset Club in Seattle, one of the most elite private clubs in the city.  The celebration of their love -- and it is a love that is so very apparent - was a creative mix of traditional and of spontaneous. 

The bride was stunning in an original dress designed by Elizabeth Dye of New York.  It was a pale blue and it suited Darcie beautifully.

The hall where the ceremony took place has a simple elegance.







After the ceremony, the guests moved to the lounge area for cocktails, then to the reception hall.  Darcie is so inventive.  She constructed the ribbons and fabric streaming down from the helium balloons.  These with attached to the centerpieces: tiers of paper and yarn flowers.  So original!










 

 

I and everyone around me were delighted by the overall look.  Bright and whimsical --  traditional and jubilant.  It set the tone for the rest of the evening.






The cakes were originals, too.  Rather than one large cake, there were a collection of them in various flavors:  two types of chocolate, coconut and carrot cake.  They were baked by Patricia Christofel and her daughters:  16 in all! Now that's a work of love.

And atop the center cake were these two absolutely adorable pigs, decorated to suit the occasion by the every inspired Darcie.
 



Plus, there was potica!!!!  A Slovanian treat.  This is part of my heritage too ... quite a surprise and delight to see it served at the wedding.  This delicacy was baked by the bride's mother herself:  Marybeth.  Sad I don't have photos to show you.  Julie Harmsen, the photographers, will likely have them and I can post them later with all their great pics.




This was the first time I've seen a fingerprint guestbook.  We had a choice of an array of colors.  After the guests decided on their favorite and posted their fingerprints, then they signed them.  It was so playful and fun!

And as we saying our goodbys, there on the table in the hall were these absolutely adorable cookies, decorated by Darcie!!! They were too cute for words ... and so very thoughtful!

 

Wishing this very talented and loving couple the best in life and in marriage!  Neal and Darcie you are sweethearts and I enjoyed every minute in your company.

Since I'm a part of the wedding, I missed most of the "people" photos.  Julie Harmsen will be providing those and I'll post them when available.  I'm sure they'll be great.
