We have been very blessed during our years of officiating ... and continue to be grateful as wonderful things make their way to us.
Many years ago we realized it is the people we officiate for and work with who are the gracious ones.
Thank you for being part of our lives.
Thank you for thinking of us, but... Pat Stimac is no longer with us. She joined her angels July 20, 2016 after a two year bout with cancer. Kent Buttars stopped officiating weddings at the end of 2017. Thanks to our thousands of couples over the last 20 years for the happiness they brought, and to our many valued friends in the wedding industry.

Joan and James to Wed at the Willows Lodge
I was delighted to hear from James and Joan about officiating their wedding ceremony. This lively, fun couple lives in Texas (yes, that's them poolside) but they have family in Seattle and decided to marry at Willows Lodge.
Then, I learned that Joan's niece is Alaina Fox who does wedding photography. Our paths have already crossed.
Now not only do I get to work with Alaina, I also get to meet more of her family. A pleasure!
When Joan and James visited Seattle, Alaina took their engagement pictures. Of course, there had to be some photos at the iconic Pike Place Market.
So looking forward to Joan and James' wedding! It's going to be an absolutely great day.
Thanks to Alaina Fox for sharing these lovely images taken at Pike Place Market.

Nice Couple Creates "Nicer Foods"
Kent had the honor of officiating for Jessie and Kate (seen here with their daughter Zannie) last year on Camano Island.
As we reach out to couples and their support for the Seattle Bride Magazine Best of 2015 poll, we often hear back what people are currently interested in and what the news is in their lives. We love those emails!
Heard back from Kate and Jessie that they have been really, really busy starting a new business: Nicer Foods, which specializes in protein bars for people with digestive issues like Crohns, colitis, etc.
Kate is a dietician and developed bars that are wheat free, dairy free, corn free, soy free plus are low in fermentable carbs called FODMAPS. This is a wonderful combination. The bars can be purchased online at Nicer Foods.
You or someone you know may find this of interest. Please share.
And here's to hearing from couples and where life has taken them!

Destination: The Quintessa on Whidbey Island Occasion: Alexi and Matt's Wedding
I'm so looking forward to this wedding!
First the background. Matt proposed to Alexi on Christmas Day at their cabin on California's Pacific Coast. Sigh ... that sounds so romantic.
The two decided on a destination wedding for about 40 people at The Quintessa on Whidbey Island. This is a vacation house just a bit from the Clinton Ferry. It is huge - with nine bedrooms and a cottage - so everyone will be together yet will have some private space.
It will give people a chance to relax, get to know each other better and to celebrate this very important day in Alexi and Matt's life.
Wishing the lucky couple the best with their wedding plans!

Seattle is a GREAT City to Elope to!
What a wonderful experience! Barry and Robert are a truly gracious couple from Florida. They had heard so many good things about our fair Emerald City that they decided to wed here.
The two wanted a simple yet elegant ceremony and celebration. We had communicated before they arrived and had prepared their ceremony via email and phone.
Once in town (they stayed downtown), Robert and Barry became tourists with a purpose. They began exploring where they wanted to wed. The Olympic Sculpture Park had just the elan they were looking for.
The two decided on a common color scheme and ordered matching boutonnières. Barry went with a long tie and Robert with a bow tie. They looked quite dapper, don't you think!
We found a quiet, private place for the ceremony.
Vows were made and rings exchanged.

Afterwards, photos.
The Sculpture Park offers so many options. Here's one at The Cloud Cover wall.
A stop at the Wave Sculpture is a must!

Barry and Robert also shared some kind words about their ceremony experience.
"Pat was AMAZING! We had to plan everything from Florida via phone but she made it so easy. And the ceremony....could not have asked for anything better. She is professional, genuine, and I would highly recommend her services to anyone!"
Wishing the two many fond memories of Seattle, the city where they wed,
and a lifetime of happiness together!
Many thanks to Starr Samuelson of Starr Photography for the wonderful photos.

Recently Engaged? How to Find an Officiant!
![]() |
| Mike Veitenhans |
The excitement of planning your wedding day is tangible. And the task of planning now begins.
So how do you find the right officiant for the two of you?
There are a number of considerations to explore with possible officiants:
First, of course, is the person available?
Is the person experienced in officiating, in writing, in providing overall guidance while encouraging your personalities to shine through?
Is he or she someone you feel comfortable with?
Is there a mutual understanding and willingness on what type of ceremony (religious, spiritual, humanist, cultural, interfaith, intercultural and more) you would like?
Is there a openness to work with you to co-create wording you will love to hear on your wedding day?
Is there help available in writing your own vows?
Is premarital preparation available?
Is it possible to see a video of the officiant performing a ceremony?
And, if friends have recently wed and they have recommendations, this would be a good place to begin!
Kent and I offer free consultations and welcome meeting with you. Give us a call at 206.789.9788 or contact us through our website.
